The Oak Island Fire & Rescue Department is an ISO Class 5 department consisting of both career and volunteer staff. The department provides fire suppression, fire prevention, ems services, rescue services, as well as fire and life safety education to the community of Oak Island.

We cover over 9 square miles of island with a full time population estimated to be around 7300 swelling to approximately 35,000 plus in the summer. Our agency receives much needed support from the Yaupon Beach Volunteer Fire Department.
